Biology Literature Research (BioLitRes) 101 -
Part 5 - Retrieving Results.

Overview: In this section you will learn how to retrieve the results of your search.
Ok; you're almost finished with the hard part. You finished your search and you collected those results somewhere; by that we mean, that some search engine(s) has given you a short description of the hit (i.e. search result) and its location. The only thing left is to retrieve the items, provided you have access permission to perform this operation.

GUIDELINES
STEP 1: Retrieve the compiled list of search results
Get the lists from the previous step and create a master list by combining them all.

STEP 2: Retrieve each item on the list
For  electronic materials,
If the item is freely available, just go ahead and fetch it to your computer
If a subscription is required to retrieve the item,
find out if your library has a subscription and how to get access permission though them
otherwise find out what the retrieval fee is
For printed materials,
If the item is in your library, check the item out
If the item is somewhere else, try using interlibrary loan
or contact them to request a copy of the item

STEP 3:
Mark on the list the items that were retrieved; if unsuccessful, write a note explaining why.
