Interactive lessons are developed!
The aim of these interactive lessons is to let students
1. Have a clear exposition of a biological topic.
2. Have ready access to background and advanced materials
3. Enhance the learning of the material with exercises in which the student accesses bioinformatics research tools to illustrate the principles of the lesson and to provide a basis for independent student exploration.

Authoring Platfrom is developed!

Workshop on Computing in Nano and Bio Sciences Research and Education
June 29 - July 5 CeNAT in San Jose, Costa Rica

Several of the Molecular Science Student Workbench staff
are instructors in this workshop, which will
feature hands-on tutorials in the following areas:
Computational biology, including high-throughput bioinformatics.
Computational chemistry, including electronic structure calculations.
Cell modeling using Matlab
Computational nanotechnology, featuring tools from Nanohub.
Building a cluster.
Participants will have a chance to be mentored as
individuals or in small groups in the use of
tools of their choice, either for research or
education. Material will be presented in a newly
developed computational science environment, the
NCSA Science Student Workbench, that links lesson
narratives, external information sources, and
computational tools. Participants will be able
to create curricular material within the Science
Student Workbench, beginning during the workshop and persisting afterwards.
Costa Rica is an extremely interesting country in
that it is charting its development path with
biotechnology, nanotechnology, environmental
preservation, and higher education as key
elements. This workshop will be an excellent
intercultural experience, with sessions will
conducted in both Spanish and English, via simultaneous translation.
